We
were camping in Plymouth with my folks. It really wasn’t much of a campground but it
was near a lot of fun little towns to explore.
I guess it wasn’t really camping either because we were in our trailer
house. One thing I liked and disliked
about the campground was the ducks.
While they were fun to watch they left messes everywhere on the blacktop
and in the grass.
Everyone was busy when all of the
sudden Justin started screaming. We all
ran to see what his problem was. He had
been forming a loop on the end of a long piece of string and setting a trap to
catch a duck. Well…he caught one. It was quacking and flapping its wings in a
panic. When Justin moved toward the duck
the string would loosen and the duck would get farther away. When Justin did get a little closer to the
duck it flopped toward him and scared him half to death. Adam to the rescue! He told Justin to hold still while he
made his way to the duck. Adam told
Justin he was probably going to jail for interfering with wildlife and hunting
without a license!
Adam was Justin’s hero that day. Although they fought like brothers, either
would have fought to the death for the other.
Adam teased Justin at every opportunity and there seemed to be plenty of
opportunities. He was relentless. I guess that’s the way it was suppose to
be.
When the duck was free there was a
look of pride on Adam’s face as he announced to Justin he wouldn’t be going to
jail after all. There was also a great
look of relief on Justin’s face. Adam
had saved the day and all was right with the world, for the moment!
